Hello, and welcome to my website. I'm a second-year PhD student in Daniel Lowd’s Machine Learning Group at the University of Oregon, where I study neuro-symbolic artificial intelligence for AI in Education. My research focuses on integrating neural networks and symbolic systems to build more interpretable and capable reasoning models that support improved learning outcomes in the classroom.
I am also a co-founder of the Temporal Intelligence Lab, a startup with a twofold mission: to provide temporally labeled datasets capturing latent emotional and cognitive states, and to accelerate AI research through the development of temporally intelligent models. I feel inspired by work that explores the frontiers of the mind in an effort to build systems that are beneficial to humanity.
I spend most of my time out in nature when I am not working. I enjoy biking, climbing mountains, and backpacking through the wilderness surrounding Eugene.
