Hello, and welcome to my website, where you can find some of my writing and programming work. I am a second-year PhD student in Daniel Lowd's Machine Learning Group at the University of Oregon. My research interests focus on reasoning in artificial intelligence, particularly through the integration of neural networks and symbolic systems. More broadly, I am interested in any methods that offer a pathway to more capable and interpretable reasoning in AI. I feel inspired by philosophy and research that explores the frontiers of the mind in an effort to represent the mechanisms of cognition.
I spend most of my time out in nature when I am not working. I enjoy biking, climbing mountains, and backpacking through the wilderness surrounding Eugene.
